We are excited to say that our family is again participating in the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk and we hope you’ll join us! Last year our team, Bray’s Brigade, had around 30 walkers and raised more than $3,500 to benefit the AHA and support Brayden and all those with heart disease. Thanks to so many for your support! We even hope to topple those totals this year! Here is how you can help:
1. WALK WITH US! There is no fee whatsoever to walk. You can register online by clicking on the link at the bottom of this post. Then click "My Team Page" and "Join my Team." It's easy! The walk takes place Saturday, August 9 at Kirkwood Community College. Registration begins at 8:00 am and the walk at 9:00. I’ll get registered walkers more information about when and where our team will meet, etc. closer to the walk. It really is a fun morning with fun activities for the kids too, and we're hoping to have a nice big team!
2. DO A LITTLE FUNDRAISING! By signing up with our team you can have your own webpage where your friends and family can make contributions towards your efforts. If you’d rather not take the electronic route, I also have walker donation envelopes for you to collect cash or check donations. I’d be happy to get you one if you need one. Just let me know! Participants who raise over $100 get a free heart walk t-shirt after the event. Other prizes are available for those raising even higher amounts. Last year my dad won 2 round trip airline tickets to Orlando in a drawing for those who raised $500! Denny and I took a short trip to Orlando this spring! Thanks Dad!
3. MAKE A DONATION. Of course we appreciate all monetary contributions. I am convinced that the money we are collecting will really make a difference for people with heart disease and in preventing heart disease as well. We are so passionate about the cause, because someday it could make a real difference for Brayden. You can make a secure online donation by clicking on the link at the bottom of this post. If you prefer, you can mail a donation to our address: 3164 122nd Street Amana, IA 52203. Please make checks payable to the American Heart Association.
4. BUY A T-SHIRT. This year our team is having t-shirts made. Shirts are $10 or $5 if you have made a donation to the Heart Walk. If you’d like a shirt, please let me know what size. I need to place the order by July 1, so please get your orders in! You are welcome to walk with or without a t-shirt, so it’s up to you! (Well, wear something please! It just doesn’t have to be this t-shirt! )
5. DO SOME SHOPPING! Now that sounds like fun! Our family will be having a garage sale on June 13th and 14th with proceeds to benefit the AHA. They boys are also planning to sell lemonade and cookies! Feel free to stop by and see us!
6. SPREAD THE WORD. Do you know someone else who might be interested in joining our team or supporting the cause in some way? Let them know! Everyone is welcome to be a Bray’s Brigade walker or contributor! The more the merrier!

Brayden was all ready to go for HeartWalk '07. He and Nolan much enjoyed the inflatible fun before the walk. You can see his favorite, the obstacle course in the picture with Daddy.
